NEW: Version 1.08 Now Released
Play Basic is a Game Programming language designed to take the learning curve out of 2D game making. Allowing users to bring their game ideas to life in a fraction of the time of other basic languages.
When designing Play Basic, we wanted to build a game programming tool that was as jam packed with built in features as possible. So programmers didn't have to spend their time re-inventing the wheel. They could just jump in and start exploring. It's this robust basis that gives Play Basic users a fast track into the world game programming.
Since Play Basics focus is game creation, the language includes a wealth of graphical features & effects. From built in Mapping, Sprites, Image effects, 2D Cameras, Vector Shapes, Texture Mapping through to a full set of traditional 2D vector art. The graphics engine also includes support for various special effects like Alpha Blending (variable, additive, subtractive), Rotation, Scaling, logical masking through to Raster Bar and real time Colour Replacement.
Play Basic not only focuses on the ease of creation, but also upon system compatibility!, by keeping the system requirements as low as possible. This ensures the fun and challenge of creating your own games is open to virtually everybody.
